As the escalator moved me onwards and upwards, I looked back as I heard my mom say those words.
I am in LAX surrounded by interesting people going abroad. There is an airport smell wafting through, consisting primarily of too-expensive food, sweat, jet fuel, and the air conditioning. I love it. The intercom calls out the names of people who are late, the hierarchy of economy versus premium, and boarding times. My limbs are shaking from not enough sleep and too many emotions.
I could not be happier.
I was created for this. All of my life has been in preparation for these adventures. I will find the likeminded people and the beautiful places. I will write down moments and store them in my memories. I am anticipating the hard moments, but thankful for the lessons they will teach. I am in love with the small things and courting the large ones.
Oh and I love people with all of my heart.
It’s going to be a year of living.
